Welcome to Federal Way Boys & Girls Club Athletics

Throughout the year we offer an array of different athletic programs.  All of our programs are coed for grades K-7th.  Each youth must be a current member of the Federal Way Boys & Girls Club to participate. Memberships are now up for renewal!  Annual Club Membership is $50 and run from Sept. 1, 2016-Aug. 31, 2017.  Additional athletic fees vary for specific program.

CURRENT ON-GOINGS! 

​The Federal Way Boys and Girls Club has an array of various athletic leagues, camps, and clinics to register for.  All youth must be 2016/2017 current members to partake in any activity.  Memberships run from Sept 1, 2016-Aug 31, 2017 and are an annual fee of $50.  See below for current  2017 WINTER athletic activities.  We are currently enrolling for WINTER COED youth basketball for grades K-7.  Early registration is set to end January 11, 2017!  Register today.​  We are also registering for our 2016 WINTER BREAK BASKETBALL CAMP.  More info on current on-goings is listed below!


2016 Winter Break EX3 Basketball Camps:​

The EX3 Teen Center will be offering two sessions of Basketball Camp the weeks of Dec. 19-22 and Dec. 27-30.  The camps are designed for coed youth grades 3-8 and will be led by former Western Washington University basketball player Shedrick Nelson.  Shedrick was a member of the 2012 WWU Vikings national championship team.  This camp is designed to focus on fundamentals, skill building, teamwork and fun.  Camp sessions and fees below.  There is the opportunity for extended care.  Please bring a sack lunch.

Session 1: Dec. 19-22.  9am-3pm. $100

Session 1 (extended care, early and/or late pick up): Dec. 19-22.  7:00am-6:30pm. $135

Session 2: Dec. 27-30.  9am-3pm. $100

Session 2 (extended care, early and or late pick up): Dec. 27-30.  7:00am-6:30pm. $135

2017 WINTER Basketball SUPERPRACTICE:

Practice will be starting after the coaches meeting on January 12, 2017.  All players are to attend the following clinic/practice date before meeting with your individual coaches.  Team practices will begin immediatley following each divisions SUPERPRACTICE.  SUPERPRACTICE is at the Federal Way Boys & Girls Club Gymnasium  located at 30815 8th Ave S.  Federal Way, WA 98003.  You can also register at the trainings the day of.  Late registration fee will apply of $5.

General Athletic Policies​​

Volunteer Coaching

The Club is always looking for volunteer coaches in its' various programs.  If interested, please contact Dolan Holt, Athletic Director.  All volunteer coaches are subject to a National Alias Background check and Praesidium online training course.

Coach and Buddy Requests

The Club will typically work to get you on a team in which a coach or buddy is requested.  Not all requests are guaranteed! Please note that with every sport there is a cutoff date after which time no buddy or coach requests can be taken into consideration. So we advise that all members register early if you plan on requesting a buddy or coach.

 

Coed Basketball Programs

Fall Basketball 2016 (Grades K-7)

Season runs November-December annually and consists of 8 game season with playoffs if team qualifies.   Registration starts in mid September.  Games are held during weeknights in the evening.  Commitment is typically 2-3 nights per week including practice.  Divisions are broken down into the following grade divisions: Fee $30

K-1st (Munchkin League)

2nd-3rd (Elementary)

4th-5th (Elementary)

6th-7th (Middle School)

Winter Basketball 2017 (Grades K-7)

Pre Season Basketball Training (Fall 2016, Winter 2017)

The Club will be offering two separate pre season hoop camps led by various volunteer coaches with tremendous basketball knowledge.  Camps are typically two weeks in duration and begin before our Fall and Winter basketball seasons.  Camps will take place in October 2016 and January 2017.  Dates will be posted three weeks prior to camp starts.  Time is 6:45pm-8:30pm.  Fee: $30

 

Coed Soccer Programs

Fall Soccer 2016 (Grades K-6)

Our Fall soccer season runs from October-mid November.  Registration begins in mid July.  This is an outdoor league.  8 game season with playoffs.  All games are held on Saturdays with practice up to the volunteer coach on weeknights.  Times and days determined by coach.  Practice commitment is typically 2 nights per week.  Divisions are broken down below.  Fee $30

Kindergarten Division: Grade K

Red Division: 1/2 grades

White Division: 3/4 grades

Blue Division: 5/6 grades

Spring Soccer 2017 (Grades K-6)

Our Spring soccer season runs from May-June.  Registration begins in mid February.  This is an outdoor league.  7 game season.  All games are held on Saturdays with practice up to the volunteer coach on weeknights.  Times and days determined by coach.  Practice commitment is typically 2 nights per week. Divisions are broken down below. Fee $30

Coed Volleyball Programs

Fall Volleyball Camp

Our Fall volleyball camp runs October 4-20, 2016.  The camp runs Tues/Thur evenings from 6:30pm-8pm.  Camp is six sessions long and is open registration for girls and boys grades 3-6.  Registration will begin in mid August, 2016.  Camp is run by University of Arizona alumni Kaylen Bannister.  Kaylen was a four year letter winner for the U of A women's volleyball team from 2007-2011.  Her knowledge and skill for the game make this a great camp for those who attend.  Last week of camp, individuals will be playing games in a fun tournament style format.  Fee $30

 

Coed Baseball Programs

Fun at Bat Baseball

Fun at Bat is a bat and ball, entry level program for kids, ages 5-8 years old. We focus on character development, active play and fun! The overarching goal of this program is to provide children with a fun and active experience while teaching "USA Baseball's Championship Principles" such as teamwork, honesty, and responsibility.  Classes will take place starting in the Fall.  Days are TBD.  Class will run from 4:15-5:30pm two days a week.  After each 75-minute class, players receive an illustrated take-home book that reinforces the "USA Baseball Championship Principle" learned.

Rock Climbing at EX3

Come visit the EX3 Ron Sandwith Teen Center every Monday from 3:30-4:30pm to climb our own exclusive Rock Wall.  The session is run by our own certified rock climber and belayer Louie Grill.  One Wednesday a month, the group visits downtown Tacoma for a field trip to Climb Tacoma.  Climb Tacoma is an indoor rock climbing facility with an array of challenging climbing courses for the begginner climber to the much advanced.  Fee FREE (with EX3 $50 membership)

Judo

The EX3 Teen Center offers a Judo program for grades 9-12 at Todd Beamer High School.  Long time coach Al Alexander instructs this challenging and fun martial arts class.  Class meets two times a week after school.  There is the opportunity to enroll in Judo competitions through Coach Alexanders classes.  For more information, please email Al Alexander for any questions on this class.  Fee $50 annual EX3 Membership.
