General Athletic Policies

Interested in Coaching Your Child's Team?

We are always looking for volunteers to coach in our many athletic leagues. During registration, you will find a box asking you if you are interested in coaching. Please enter your name in that box during registration, and we will contact you. Already registered and you missed putting your name down? Not a problem! Just send an email to Alec Hinn or Caitlin Relyea and we'll update your child's registration. Thank you in advance!

Mutual Buddy Request System

Most athletic teams are formed via the Mutual Buddy Request system. Each child is allowed one buddy request per sport. In order for that buddy request to be granted, that buddy must also enter your child's name in return. Otherwise the buddy request is not guaranteed. If more than one buddy request is entered, only the first listed name will be taken into consideration. Please note that with every sport there is a cutoff date after which time no buddy requests can be taken into consideration. So we advise that all members register early if you plan on requesting a buddy.

Sponsoring a Team

Every season, we offer you or your company the ability to sponsor a sports team or a full sports league Sponsorship prices vary depending on the sport but are available year round. If you are interested in sponsoring a team, please contact Alec Hinn.

Basketball

Basketball Clinics | Registration opens in May

We offer basketball clinics for kindergarten, 1st-2nd grade and 3rd-6th grade children at various times during the year. Classes are designed to expose youth to basketball in a positive and encouraging environment. Each session is six classes long, with each class lasting one hour.

Kindergarten and 1st/2nd Grade Basketball Leagues | Registration opens in July

Dribble, shoot and score with our kindergarten-2nd grade basketball leagues! The primary emphasis of the program is to teach the basic skills of basketball to all participants. The program encourages player creativity in the development of both individual and team skills. Boys & Girls Club's goal is to create an atmosphere of fun and good sportsmanship for all players. The leagues include co-ed kindergarten, a 1st/2nd grade girl's league, a 1st grade boy's league and a 2nd grade boys league. Teams practice once a week at a local elementary school. Games are played at the Kirkland Boys & Girls Club on Tuesdays for kindergarten, Thursdays for the 1st/2nd grade girls, and Saturdays for the 1st and 2nd grade boys league. Practices begin at the end of November and end around the last week of February.

3rd-6th Grade Boys and Girls Basketball League | Registration opens in December

This coed program focuses on the beginning and intermediate basketball player, developing his or her skills in the fundamentals of the game. Teams practice once a week, and games are played on Saturdays at the Kirkland or Redmond Boys & Girls Club. The leagues include 3rd grade boys and girls, 4th grade boys and girls, 5th grade boys and girls and 6th grade boys and girls. Our 3rd-6th grade basketball league is offered in the spring beginning in April and ending in early June.

Football

Flag Football | Registration opens in February

Down…set….hike! Kirkland Boys & Girls Club offers a 5-on-5 non-contact flag football league designed for boys and girls between grades 1 and 6. Games are played on Saturdays at the Kirkland, Redmond, Mercer Island, or Bellevue Boys & Girls Clubs. Practices are held once or twice a week at local schools. The season is eight weeks long, with six weeks of games. Each child receives a team jersey. Flag football begins the second week of school and concludes in early November.

Jr. Kang and Jr. Rebel Tackle Football | Registration opens in February

Join the Jr. Kang and Jr. Rebel Youth Tackle Football tradition! Players are placed on teams according to an age/weight formula. The Jr. Kang and Jr. Rebel Youth Tackle Football program is a member of the Greater Eastside Junior Football Association; the premier youth tackle football organization in the Northwest. For more information on the league's rules, philosophy and individual team websites, please visit www.GEJFA.org. Registration opens in early spring, and closes end of June. Practices start the beginning of August.

Pee Wee Sports

Pee Wee Outdoor Multi Sport | Registration opens in December

Come join this class that teaches boys  and girls ages 3-5 the fundamentals of outdoor sports. From soccer, to t-ball, to football emphasis in on fun and participation. Class meets once a week for  45 minutes on the KBGC field rain or shine in the spring.

Pee Wee Basketball | Registration opens in June

Pass, dribble, shoot! Our pee wee basketball class teaches boys and girls ages 3-5 fundamentals of basketball in a fun, interactive environment. Classes focus on basketball skills, drills, and games. Class meets once a week for an hour in the KBGC gym in the fall.

Pee Wee Indoor Multi-Sport | Registration opens in June  

Have kids ready for some fun gym time? Come check out our indoor multi-sport class for ages 3-5. Classes teach boys and girls the basics of indoor sports in a fun and exciting environment. Participants will learn a variety of different sports including basketball, soccer, and volleyball.  Class meets once a week for 45 minutes in the KBGC gym during late winter.

Soccer

Indoor and Outdoor Soccer Clinic | Registration opens in December

Our indoor and outdoor soccer clinics are designed for youth ages 3-8. Staff focuses on participation, teamwork, skill development and fun. The indoor clinic takes place from February to March for six one-hour sessions and the outdoor clinic takes place from May to June for six one-hour session.

Micro Soccer (Co-Ed) | Registration opens in January

Our summer micro soccer league is for boys and girls between the ages of 4 and 7. The leagues are broken into two divisions: the 4-5 year olds and the 6-7 year olds. Small-sized games, played 3-on-3, allow all kids the chance to dribble, pass, shoot and score! Micro soccer begins in late June and finishes in August.

Other Sports

Rock Climbing | Registration is dependent on session

Climb to new heights. Learn the skills and basics of the sport of rock climbing on our 30-foot indoor climbing wall. Classes are offered on various days and times throughout the year. With supervision and safety measures in place, climbers have the freedom to climb as high as they feel comfortable and are encouraged to try something new each week.

T-Ball (Co-Ed Ages 3-6) | Registration opens in December

Batter up! T-Ball is a team sport designed to teach players the fundamentals of baseball and softball while developing self-esteem, team camaraderie and skills. Players hit the ball off a tee, and all children play in the field and bat each inning. League emphasis is on fun! Players are provided a team jersey and a baseball hat at the beginning of the season. T-ball begins in late April.

Track and Field | Registration opens in December

On your mark…get set…GO! The Boys & Girls Club Track & Field program allows kids to participate in six running events and two field events. The program is designed for kids to learn the basic techniques but most of all to have fun. Track is open to boys and girls in 1st-6th grades. Practice is twice a week on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and the team will participate in four meets. The season begins in mid-April.

Volleyball | Fall registration opens in May | Spring registration opens in December

Bump…set…spike! Our girls Volleyball League is designed for beginner and intermediate players. Participants learn the rules and technique in a fun and positive environment. Teams practice once a week at a time and location determined by your coach. Teams play a minimum of six games, with an end-of-season round robin tournament. Volleyball is offered in the fall and spring.

Cobra Wrestling | Registration opens in July

Come learn the ins and outs of wrestling or continue to improve your skills in our junior wrestling program! Participants will be split between and advanced and beginner level. The beginner level will practice 2 days a week, and the advance level will practice 3 days a week. The program is open to boys and girls in 1st-8th grade. Season 1 runs from November to the end of January, and season 2 runs from February to late April. Each wrestler is require to obtain a USA wrestling card.
