The economy is impacting our kids and families, and your support is needed now more than ever.
- Kids are hungry—More kids are coming to the Club hungry. Staff are scrambling to find filling meals that won’t break their budget.
- Families are in need—Many parents face evictions, layoffs, and overwhelming financial stress. Kids in the Clubs are exhibiting signs of these stresses.
- Families are finding other childcare unaffordable—Our Clubs are seeing an influx of new members because our drop-in programs are only about $20 a year. Despite these low costs, more parents are asking for scholarships.
Boys & Girls Clubs of King County depends on generous individual gifts, fundraising events, and foundation support to help us reach 30,000 youth each year. The money we raise allows us to keep our services affordable and even free to high-need communities. Here are some of the ways your gift can make a difference in the life of a child…
- Families pay an average of $20 a year for a membership to our Clubs, but it costs us $500 to serve a single child for a year.
- We provide scholarships for kids from low-income families, allowing them to attend summer camps and other programming. Each scholarship we provide costs us an average of $250.
- Many of our Clubs have hot-meal programs, providing free meals to hundreds of kids in need. The monthly cost to a Club is $1500-$2000 to serve these meals.
- In 2007, more than $200,000 in scholarships was granted to kids all over King County.
With your support, we will continue to ensure that no child is ever turned away.
