Partner Spotlight: Buffalo Wild Wings
Boys & Girls Clubs of America is proud to have a national partner in Buffalo Wild Wings. Our local Buffalo Wild Wings restaurants show a deep commitment to expanding the Clubs' reach here in our region. We're so grateful for all of the ways that this year-round partnership supports our mission.
Through our partnership with Buffalo Wild Wings, we're able to provide a safe place with mentorship and high-quality programs to kids and teens throughout greater Seattle.
I have been a Boys & Girls Clubs supporter for just over five years now and it has been one of the most satisfying and rewarding parts of being a general manager for Buffalo Wild Wings.
Mark, the general manager of the downtown Seattle Buffalo Wild Wings expressed his relationship to the Club in this way: “I have been a Boys & Girls Clubs supporter for just over five years now and it has been one of the most satisfying and rewarding parts of being a general manager for Buffalo Wild Wings. I have personally seen the benefits of the support we have provided both personally and as a company… I firmly believe that in the right environment that sports can be a very positive motivator in developing organizational skills, teamwork, responsibility and understanding of others.”
Our partners at Buffalo Wild Wings are committed to helping kids in our community and are always looking for opportunities to do more. Below are a few ways they support the Clubs each year.
Each spring, Buffalo Wild Wings restaurants across the country support their local Boys & Girls Clubs through Community Day, when restaurants contribute a portion of their sales to support local Clubs. We’re lucky to have full participation from all three locations in King County, and this year many of our Club kids got to take field trips to the restaurant.
Summer Field Day
Buffalo Wild Wings are an amazing supporter of our annual celebration of Healthy Lifestyles which takes place each summer. Each year, our local partners show their support by catering the event and helping our kids refuel after a full day of running around, trying new things, and learning about healthy living.
Buffalo Wild Wings and Boys & Girls Clubs Annual Golf Tournament
For the past four summers, district manager Jay Dowed has rallied Buffalo Wild Wings’ business partners to support Clubs across King and Snohomish counties. This year’s tournament, which was also sponsored by MillerCoors, raised over $48,000 to support programs in the two counties.
For me, it means that hopefully the money raised can help a few kids to have a safe place to go and learn some valuable skills from the staff at the local [C]lubs that we help.
We asked Jay and Scott from MillerCoors about what giving to the Club means to them.
Scott responded: “I love the fact that the dollars we raise [go] to [a] great charity that impact[s] young people in a very positive way.”
Jay answered: “For me, it means that hopefully the money raised can help a few kids to have a safe place to go and learn some valuable skills from the staff at the local [C]lubs that we help. This is a turning point age in many kids’ lives, and I feel that this is the best time to make a positive impact in their lives.”
For the entire month of October, Buffalo Wild Wings restaurants nationwide host in-restaurant fundraisers in support of sports programs at Boys & Girls Clubs. Stop by your Buffalo Wild Wings in downtown Seattle, Tukwila, or Federal Way this October to support your local Clubs!
More About the Partnership
We're enormously grateful for the longtime support from Buffalo Wild Wings as an organization and from folks like Mark, Jay, and Scott as individual community leaders making a difference in kids' lives.
Mark encourages others to get involved too: “[Giving] will make you feel better about yourself to know that you enabled a child to pursue his dreams. If you get involved, you will personally see how showing that you care is returned in the smiles and the laughter of hundreds of children who might not have had the opportunity if you did not get involved.”
