Alumni Feature: Khairi

Alumni Khairi and mentor Louie Grill at University of Oregon campus

Khairi, the 2018 King County Youth of the Year, and recipient of the BeyGood $100,000 Scholarship (Beyoncé’s charity initiative), started his freshman year at the University of Oregon this fall!

After overcoming a number of challenges throughout his childhood, Khairi found stability and trusted adult mentors at the Club. Through Khairi’s experience at the Federal Way Ron Sandwith Teen Center, he learned about perseverance, established his morals and values, and became a role model for others.

Alongside Khairi’s mom, Club mentors Mark Hendricks and Louie Grill accompanied Khairi to get settled in at Oregon, where he plans to study business and computer information technology.
