Award-Winning Chief Development Officer
Congratulations to Chief Development Officer Jayme Hommer, the recipient of Boys & Girls Clubs of America’s (BGCA) 2020 Outstanding Development Professional Award for the Pacific Region!
The award honors a fundraising professional whose dedication, leadership, ingenuity and high ethical standards build and strengthen a Culture of Philanthropy in their Clubs and communities.
COVID-19 hit Washington state mere weeks before the spring LunchBreak event – our second biggest fundraising event of the year. A ballroom of 1,000 people were due to gather, and it became likely that the gathering would be restricted or prohibited. There were no examples of how to deal with this situation; Jayme and her team had to create their own blueprint.
Jayme led the team as it pivoted from an in-person event to an online campaign – which met revenue goals, despite such a quick turnaround. Jayme also ensured this fundraising pivot was linked to the Operations Team’s immediate response of opening Clubs all day, and through this secured significant coverage on local and regional news outlets.
As COVID-19 continued to impact our families, and our operational costs, Jayme led the Resource Development Team into a significant campaign highlighting our new needs and inspiring generosity from Club parents to the major philanthropic givers in the region.
Congratulations Jayme for this well-deserved award. Thank you for doing whatever it takes to ensure youth have resources to build great futures!
