SE Network celebrates community by hosting several annual events throughout the year.
Community Healing Space Activation
Every Friday we hold safe space in two South Seattle Safeway Parking Lots. Circle is held at both Rainier Beach Safeway as well as the Genesee Safeway. Circle Topics at these locations usually have to do with relevant things going on in the area, or they are a way for community members to come and open up with others. With gun violence prevalent in the neighborhood, we wanted to create somewhere for the community to discuss the trauma that has transpired in the area and provide a space where people can heal.
Be safe block party
On the last day of school each year, we activate the Rainier Beach Community Center Plaza with catered food, a DJ, 3 on 3 basketball tournament, raffle prizes, resources, an inflatable obstacle course and other activities for all ages. The goal is to kick off a safe summer.
Thanksgiving event
In November, we host a Thanksgiving event at the Community Healing Space. In addition to providing meals, we distribute Thanksgiving baskets.
Gift of community
In December, we host a Holiday themed event. Families have the opportunity to take a photo with a Black Santa and we distribute gifts to the kids in attendance.
