Community Spotlight: Nancy Remak
Our annual Youth of the Year event celebrates outstanding teens in our community. Each Youth of the Year nominee gives a speech about their experience at the Club. These speeches are the highlight of the event for most attendees, but there is so much more going on behind the scenes. For the past four years, Nancy Remak has played an integral role in the event by serving on the judging team.
Nancy’s commitment to our Clubs runs deep. Her story starts long before she was appointed as a Youth of the Year Judge. Her parents, Eugene & Ruth Freedman, were long-time and avid supporters of our Clubs both locally and across the country. Eugene, Nancy’s father even served on the National Board. Their commitment to the Boys & Girls Clubs inspired Nancy and her siblings to also invest in
our work. To this day Nancy, her husband Ben, and their daughter honor her parent’s legacy by continuing to support
“I love seeing the honorees share how much they love the Club. It reminds me of why I support in the first place!”
As a judge, she strives to understand the whole person and not get caught up solely on the speech. Nancy is incredibly grateful for her time as a judge and honored to have had the opportunity. She is stepping down as a judge in order to make space for others to hold this role. Not to worry, you will definitely find Nancy and her family cheering on future cohorts of candidates as guests!
Nancy’s enthusiasm and love of Boys & Girls Clubs is palpable. We are grateful for her time and dedication to young people. We’re so lucky to have the Freedman and Remak families in our community!
