With the new school year just around the corner, now is the time to sign up for After School Programs at the Hamilton Boys & Girls Club!

Note that if you previously attended HOST (Hamilton Out of School Time), this is the same program! We just changed the name this year to align with the Boys & Girls Club brand.

What is the Hamilton Boys & Girls Club?

The Hamilton Boys & Girls Club After School programs provide fun and enriching activities for Hamilton students looking to explore new hobbies, hang out with friends, or get help with schoolwork. With programs ranging from Robotics to Art and Kickboxing to Dungeons & Dragons, we have something for everyone. These activities are focused on participation and fun, and some will even satisfy students’ P.E. requirements.

Where?

Club members will meet up right after school in The Commons to sign in and grab a snack. They will then depart with a staff member to their separate programs in various rooms throughout the school. All of our programs take place at Hamilton International Middle School, including the gym. Any classes with trips that go beyond the Wallingford Playfield will have supplemental field trip permission forms.

When?

Our programs will begin September 23rd. We have programs running year-round with slightly different offerings available in the three different seasons. • Weekday programs (excluding Wednesday): 4pm – 5:30pm
  • Wednesday programs:
    • Study Hall: 2:45pm – 4:50pm
    • Enrichment session 1: 2:45pm – 3:45 pm
    • Enrichment session 2: 3:50pm – 4:50pm

Fall Quarter Programs

Study Hall: Monday – Thursday

Pick-up Basketball: Wednesday & Friday

All other classes are once a week, with many returning favorites such as Minecraft Club, Dungeons & Dragons, and Art Club. We also have some new programs like Iconic Image Explorers, where students choose famous paintings and pictures from throughout history to learn about and recreate. This program has been offered at the Wallingford Boys & Girls Club for the past 5 years and has won awards locally and nationally for its originality and hands-on approach to learning.

To see what else is offered, head to our registration page.

Cost

Annual Boys & Girls Club Membership: $50

Each class has a fee ranging from $110 – $150, depending on the cost of materials or field trips.

Through our partnership with Hamilton International Middle School, many students qualify for full or partial scholarships. Reach out to hamilton@positiveplace.org to find out if your child qualifies.

Transportation

For those who qualify, After School Activity (ASA) buses are available Monday – Thursday, and they leave 15 minutes after programs finish. These buses are run by the school district, so if you already qualify for school bus transportation, then you’ll likely qualify for ASA buses as well.

Otherwise, students can walk home, take the metro, be picked up, or walk a few blocks to the Wallingford Boys & Girls Club. Since it’s another Club, your membership fee covers the cost of drop-in time there as well. Many Hamilton students attend the Teen Center there, which is open until 8pm.
