North Seattle Club Work Party
Our Clubs are magical places where youth come together for fun, learning, and comradery. That magic also means the building is put to great use, and it takes a community effort to keep our Clubs clean, safe, and joyful for our youth.
On Saturday, June 19, members of the North Seattle Club Advisory Board (CAB) showed up at the Club bright, early, and ready to get their hands dirty with Club maintenance and improvement projects.
The group painted over graffiti on exterior walls, cleaned up the trash and recycling area, repaired a picket fence by the garden, cleaned out garden beds, hung door buzzers on all of the doors, replaced lights in the staff bathroom, repaired two bumper pool tables, and cleaned up spaces so they were usable for summer camp.
Chad Cabigting, who helped organize the work party clean-up, shared: “It’s great to see the board having fun, working together, and having a real impact at the Club.”
The CAB’s accomplishments prepared the Club for more games of freeze tag, popsicle painting crafts, fun and learning for kids and teens this summer.
CAB President Teri Schomer reflects on her involvement: “Giving back to the Clubs as a Board Member is a privilege and a unique opportunity to show my appreciation for what the Boys & Girls Club did for me as a Club kid.”
