Boys & Girls Clubs teens from across the globe are joined together for the 57th Annual National Keystone Conference at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in Atlanta. Over 30 teen leaders from the Boys & Girls Club of King County flew to Atlanta, Georgia, to participate in career and community development with like-minded peers from July 25-27, 2024.

Keystone Club provides a unique leadership development experience for teen Club members, ages 14-18, with opportunities to enhance their academic success while preparing for their future careers and improving their communities through service projects. The event unites thousands of teens from diverse communities worldwide. They connect, engage, and explore relevant social issues that teens face daily, such as mental health, race, and equality, through the conference’s theme, “UNITED & BRAVE. GET LOUD!“

Our teens have been preparing for this incredible experience,” said Senior Teen Director Derrick Thomas. “The excitement has been building for weeks as they worked on their national project and planned their trip. Seeing their dedication and enthusiasm reminds us why we do what we do – to help these young individuals reach their full potential and inspire them to create positive change.”

Keystone Members will participate in various breakout sessions throughout the three-day event to build leadership skills, establish positive peer relationships, and increase their awareness and appreciation of diversity.

“I’ve heard how much fun the Keystone Conference’s College and Career Expo is. I am sure it will open my eyes to a world of opportunities for my future,” says Morgan, Wallingford Club Keystone member. “I know the leadership skills I’m learning as a Keystone Club member will help me succeed in pursuing whatever career path I choose.”

Teens will also gather daily to listen to inspiring stories from keynote speakers. Some past speakers include singer-songwriter Keri Hilson, multifaceted celebrity Nick Cannon, and BGCA Alumnus and Olympian John Carlos. “At the Keystone Conference, I am very excited to meet new people and have new experiences,” says Jana, a Keystone member from our Kirkland Club.

This enthusiasm captures the spirit of teens as they embark on this journey to grow as leaders and create lasting memories. We are incredibly proud of their commitment and can’t wait to see the positive impact they will bring back to our community.
