Racial Equity Work at the Club
Part of the mission of Boys & Girls Clubs of King County is to serve youth, especially those who need us most. That priority drives leadership decisions to invest in organization-wide initiatives to provide culturally relevant, inclusive, and diverse programming for our youth.
Adelante, meaning “moving forward”, is the race, equity, and inclusion group within Boys & Girls Clubs of King County. Adelante is made up of employees across the organization who work together to build a more equitable and inclusive organization, by evaluating and guiding policies, practices, and procedures; eliminating disparities; and implementing an inclusive process for receiving community input.
Adelante team members share how their involvement helps support our young people:
“Leadership is making a big investment into our people, allowing them to bring their best selves to work which helps us to provide best services to our youth and communities that we serve.” – Patrick Carter, Area Director
“I feel that our part is to bring awareness forward and [create] the foundation to then grow that throughout our organization to better serve the communities that we work with.” – Aryn Au, Program Director at Federal Way 8th Ave
