This month, the Salmon Bay Boys & Girls Club began the third year of their youth leadership and work preparedness program for 4th and 5th graders, the Pre-Counselor in Training (or Pre-C.I.T.) program. This program nurtures leadership and independence among the 4th and 5th graders as they apply for the job, go through Pre-C.I.T. orientation, and help out with the kindergartners alongside the counselors.
Fourth and fifth graders help plan and run activities, facilitate read-alouds, help with chores, and act as role models for the younger Club members.

The Pre-C.I.T. program is a year-long program that the 4th and 5th graders may apply to at any point in the school year. They log their volunteer hours, wear an official Pre-C.I.T. t-shirt and personalized name badge, and sign up themselves for work shifts.
The participation rate for this program has tripled since its first year in 2016!
If your child is interested in joining the program, have them fill out this form and turn it in to Amelia or Shannon at the Salmon Bay Boys & Girls Club.
