To me, Rotary is ‘familie’, which means family in German. It is my second home, and I am so grateful for it.
As a Club kid, Maya has learned empathy, developed problem-solving skills, and practiced leadership. Through opportunities like participating in SMART Girls and leading Summer Brain Gain for younger kids, Maya has discovered an excitement for working with kids, science, programming, and more. With an enthusiasm for learning, Maya excels in all her classes, especially German and Chemistry.
Maya hopes to find a way to use all of her skills and interests developed at the Club from youth development to coding in a future career.
Every summer I get the opportunity to learn and grow as a person, but I also get to have fun and make kids laugh. It’s not every day that you have the chance to change someone’s life.
Thanks to Chris Hagen for the beautiful photos!
