Hunter joined our first cohort of Foundation Project, a construction trades training housed at our EX3 Federal Way Teen Center. The project was to build a makers’ space for the elementary program.

He is currently enrolled at Puget Sound Skills Center, where he is studying engineering.
Hunter was a valuable addition to the program. Not only did he gain experience with various digital tools, build his resume, and form meaningful connections with his peers, but he consistently gave back to the cohort. He entered the program with prior knowledge of some of the material being presented and was always willing to support others in their learning. Hunter quickly grasped key concepts during sessions focused on reading blueprints and creating them using Revu. As his confidence grew, he regularly made himself available to assist peers who needed additional guidance or examples.
During the construction of the makers’ space, Hunter demonstrated strong leadership skills. While working at an offsite warehouse, he took initiative in measuring components and ensuring his team stayed focused and put forth their best effort. He also became proficient with power tools and was a reliable support to the instructor, often stepping up when leadership or extra assistance was needed.
