2018 Summer Doorways Intern, Miracle, will represent Kaiser Permanente and share information about jobs in healthcare at this year's Youth Resource Fair. This summer, 30 interns were accepted into the Doorways Internship Program and placed into 14 partner sites around Seattle. Miracle was the only one of her peers to be placed as an intern at Kaiser Permanente’s Renton Administrative Campus and she was just thrilled when they invited her to stay on past the program’s end. YouthForce's Career Internship Program was thrilled to partner with Bank of America for the first time this summer. We received over 80 applications and were excited to select Nakita as the final candidate for an internship position with the Rainier Beach branch. Nakita started her 6-week summer program in July and finished up at the end of August. Jump Club, Seattle has arrived at the Joel E. Smilow Clubhouse & Teen Center! This summer, Club kids have the chance to participate in single rope and double dutch skills classes offered twice a week June - August through Jump Club, Seattle. The classes are open to the public and funded by the Get Moving Initiative, a grant offered through Seattle Parks and Recreation to get people moving throughout the summer, especially in under-served parts of the city.
On Tuesday, July 17th, more than 3,300 containers of chocolate-covered sunflower seeds arrived at Boys & Girls Clubs of King County: a generous donation from TRP Company & Dae Young Corporation! Teens, kids, and staff from the Smilow Rainier Vista Club helped unload a packed truck. They couldn't believe how many jars there were (in total, making for more than 165,000 servings)! On Wednesday, July 11th, nearly 800 youth from across Boys & Girls Clubs of King County came together at University of Washington’s Husky Stadium for this year’s Summer Field Day. Throughout the morning, kids rotated through stations and had the chance to play soccer, kickball, football, golf, rugby, and ultimate frisbee, and do yoga and other core strength exercises.
