Last Tuesday, December 11, staff, kids, and family from across King County’s Boys & Girls Clubs gathered at the Mercer Island Club to celebrate and honor outstanding Club members of fall 2018.
Youth of the Quarter is an award given out four to five times a year to Club members who have excelled in the areas of academic success, good character and citizenship, and healthy lifestyles. Once a recipient of the Youth of the Quarter, Club members are eligible for Youth of the Year, a county-wide competition and award ceremony (which is coming up on February 5!).
At Tuesday’s event, Boys & Girls Club staff introduced each youth by sharing the special traits that made their Club’s Youth of the Quarter nominee so inspiring. When the youth got up to speak, they shared the importance of their Club and the Club’s staff in shaping their lives. Their words and the pride in their voices brought to life the clear respect, admiration, and appreciation staff and youth shared for one another.
